ECG SAYS THEY SHOULDN'T BE BLAMED FOR THE KUMASI CENTRAL MARKET FIRE OUTBREAK

 ECG

You recall when I posted on a fire outbreak in Kumasi Central market right? Well there was an allegation that blames Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) however, regional public relations officer, Erasmus Kyere-Baidoo dismissed the allegations by saying that "When incidents like this occur, people are quick to attribute the cause to ECG. This does not normally reflect the true cause of the fire."
Meanwhile he said yesterday's outage was a result of equipment breakdown as two transformers of Ghana Grid Company developed (GGC) faults.  GGC is a company that provide the power that the transformer of ECG uses. At least thats the idication I got when I watched one of their staff explain on viasat 1 TV station.  So he says the fault is entirely not from ECG.
Erasmus also blamed market traders for using defective switches and also overloading them. "Sometimes the capacity of the power they are picking from these switches are more than the power that is being supplied to them" he said. ECG be that! apportioning blames.
